The Rush Process
A letter from GXD's Recruitment Chair
Hi everyone!
As you may know, Trinity's rush process is very different from what you might see at state schools with national chapters. Rather than it being a week or two of intense recruitment, Trinity's rush process spans the entirety of the fall semester with bid day occurring at the start of the spring semester. Doing this allows potential new members (PNMs) and active members of fraternity and sorority life (FSL) the chance to form long-term friendships and make genuine connections with one another. It helps PNMs get a better grasp of all the different organizations and see where they would fit best.

There are three "formal" rounds throughout the rush process. The word formal does not mean these events themselves are formal, but rather they are official opportunities to meet with different FSL organizations. First rounds are open to all PNMs and will take place in September. PNMS are encouraged to attend as many FSL organization's first rounds as possible. Second rounds, like first rounds, are open to all PNMs and will take place in October. By this point, PNMs should have a better idea of which organizations they are most interested in. Third rounds will take place in November; however, they are invite only. Before the start of third rounds, PNMs will fill out a form stating which organizations they are interested in (RSVP) and then the FSL organizations will send out invitations based on those forms.

In between these rounds, Gamma Chi Delta will throw several "informal" recruitment events. These events are much more relaxed like meeting at a dog park with the gamma dogs, doing yoga at Black Swan, or meeting on campus to paint little plant pots. There are also "rush dates" where PNMs and active members of Gamma Chi Delta can form one-on-one connections in comparison to events where PNMs can get a better perspective on the organization as a whole.

As a PNM, I remember being pretty confused about the rush process and I had a hard time keeping track of it all; however, as Recruitment Chair, I am working to ensure that everyone has all the necessary information! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to cbarcuss@trinity.edu. I'm always happy to help and I am so excited to meet everyone through this next recruitment cycle!
